About me...
I am a UK Council for Psychotherapy Registered psychotherapist and counsellor with over 30 years experience of working therapeutically with people from a diversity of backgrounds on a wide range of issues. I work with individuals, couples and groups both privately, through employee assistance programmes and within the NHS.
If you are looking for counselling or psychotherapy with a well-established and professionally trained therapist in the East Midlands,
I may be able to help you. I am based in Wirksworth, near Matlock, Derbyshire.
I live in Wirksworth with my husband, several cats and dogs and I am proud mother to two adult children who have 'flown the nest' in recent years. I have a very long-standing interest in human growth and flourishing. While perhaps expressed primarily through my study and practice of psychotherapy, my involvement in the world of music is another dimension to this. For many years I have been involved locally in performing and promoting music; finding great fulfillment in expression through music, as well as enjoying the profound connection with others that sharing music can bring. I operate from a deep appreciation of how mind, body and spirit are interconnected and I am passionate about natural health. I am involved in community food growing initiatives and have helped to set up two local community supported organic agriculture projects.

I am professionally trained to practice psychotherapy, counselling and clinical supervision with the UK Council for Psychotherapy and the Gestalt Psychotherapy Training Institute. I have a Masters Degree in Gestalt Psychotherapy and I have various other post-graduate qualifications and trainings, including:-
-
Diploma in Clinical Supervision (SPTI)
-
Person-Centred Counselling, bereavement speciality focus (SPTI)
-
Counselling for Depression (CfD)
-
Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT)
-
Certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
-
Certificate in Practicing Energy Psychotherapy

I am also a qualified Hatha Yoga teacher. Knowledge gained during this training supports me in the important somatic elements of my clinical work.
Deborah has been an incredible support for me through challenging times in my life. She creates a safe space in which to express and explore emotions, experiences, limitations and expectations. Her compassion and integrity allow for new perspectives to be uncovered and light to outshine darkness. She has given me the tools to move forward with greater confidence, authenticity and insight, and I am forever grateful for her presence.
